So You've Fallen In Love With Upholstered Headboards...

Well, I have too!

One of the rooms on "the list" to be reimagined was the Master Bedroom. While I loved my bedroom furniture, I disliked the fact that my bed was a queen size and finding the King for the discontinued set was becoming impossible. Buying a brand new complete set was out of the question too! I mean seriously, have you priced a new mattress lately? They sell these like cars!

So, I had a plan...flip my bedroom! Yes, I would sell my furniture in order to purchase a new mattress and second hand pieces I could redo in order to get "the look" that I wanted without the hefty price tag AND being able to afford a new mattress.

Well what happens next is a little surprising. While I had been looking through Pinterest and Craigslist trying to find the perfect pieces to create a new master suite, I was figuring the cheapest route was to find an headboard on Craigslist and distress these pieces. Little did I realize that my plan was going to shift slightly.

As my bed was being taken down for the new owner, I realized that I had some boards that I had stored under my bed. While looking at them lying next to one another a thought crept into my head! These could be made into a headboard and I can save money on this piece of furniture.

I began to do some research! Looking for measurements of king size headboards I stumbled across a few pictures of upholstered headboards. One of which was a P Barn. Here's the link:Upholstered Headboard. Well, you want to talk about sticker shock, then $1,529 will do it!

Now, while I can be pretty creative and I have a slue of tools, I was not going to even attempt to cut a symmetrical curve with a jigsaw! So, I went with a straight edge look. I knew I wanted to add nail heads on the headboard as well, but I wanted them to be on the front not on the sides. After all, if I did the work I wanted to be able to see it!

With a few supplies around the house and a few I had to purchase, I managed to create my very own Upholstered Headboard for about $150!

Here's  a picture of my custom upholstered headboard!

I will be adding a tutorial on how you can create your own upholstered headboard very soon. Hope you enjoyed my share!
